Lakeland Bank Provides Scholarships (Lenape Valley HS)

More than 500 recipients assisted since program initiated
Oak Ridge and Stanhope, N.J., August 1, 2012 – For 39 years, Lakeland Bank has been providing scholarships to local students for their academic achievement and interest in attending college. This year 53 high school seniors were presented with a scholarship from the Bank at award ceremonies in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties.
“We are pleased to recognize the young adults in our local communities who have worked hard to achieve academic success, and who are dedicated to pursuing a higher education,” said Thomas Shara, president and CEO of Lakeland Bank. “As a community bank, we have a responsibility to give back to the communities we serve, and are proud to have supported more than 500 local students throughout the history of our scholarship program.”
A total of $85,000 was distributed this year to students at 41 private and public high schools. Lakeland Bank raises the money to support this program at its Annual Scholarship Golf Outing, and has provided over $1 million in scholarships since it began hosting this annual event in 1974.
“As a recipient of the Lakeland Bank Scholarship, I am honored to accept this award from the company as it will provide great financial assistance in college,” said Kyler Houser of Lenape Valley Regional High School. “It is personally significant to me as it reflects how my hard work and dedication towards academics has allowed me to achieve my goals.” Houser will attend Pennsylvania State University to study mechanical engineering.
